The short version: Lingoo processes your voice to translate it. We do not store your audio. We do not sell your data. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time. Everything else below is the legal detail behind those three sentences.
01 — Who we are
Lingoo is a real-time voice translation application operated by Avelon Technologies ("we", "us", "our"). Our registered contact email is support@getlingoo.com.
This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the Lingoo mobile application and the website at getlingoo.com.
02 — What data we collect
Data you provide directly
- Account information: When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address and display name from that provider.
- Voice audio: When you use the translation feature, your voice is recorded and sent to our server for transcription. Audio is processed in real time and is not stored on our servers after transcription is complete.
- Conversation transcripts: If you save a conversation, the text transcript (original and translated) is stored in your account. Audio is never stored.
- Custom phrases: Any phrases you add to your personal phrasebook on Pro tier.
Data collected automatically
- Usage data: How long you use the app per day, which features you use, and which language pairs you translate between. This is used to enforce free tier limits and improve the product.
- Device information: Operating system version and device type for debugging and compatibility purposes.
- Analytics events: Anonymous events such as "translation completed" or "paywall shown" to understand how the app is used. These events are not tied to personally identifiable information.
Data we do NOT collect
- We do not store your voice recordings after they have been transcribed.
- We do not collect your precise location.
- We do not collect contacts, photos, or any data outside the app.
- We do not collect payment card details — payments are handled entirely by Apple, Google, or Stripe.
03 — How we use your data
We use the data we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide the translation service — your audio is sent to OpenAI Whisper for transcription and your text is sent to Anthropic Claude for translation.
- To play translated text back as audio using OpenAI's text-to-speech service.
- To save and sync your conversation transcripts across devices if you are logged in.
- To enforce daily usage limits on the free tier.
- To manage your subscription status via RevenueCat.
- To send you transactional emails (account confirmation, subscription receipts) — we do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent.
- To improve the product through anonymous, aggregated analytics.
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to any third party. Ever.
04 — Third-party services
Lingoo uses the following third-party services to operate. Each has its own privacy policy which we encourage you to review:
- Anthropic Claude — Used for translation. Text sent to Anthropic is governed by Anthropic's Privacy Policy. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train their models.
- OpenAI Whisper and TTS — Used for speech-to-text transcription and voice playback. Audio and text are governed by OpenAI's Privacy Policy. OpenAI does not use API inputs to train their models.
- Supabase — Used for user authentication and storing transcripts and account data. Data is stored on servers in the European Union. See Supabase's Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat — Used to manage subscription purchases and entitlements. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
- PostHog — Used for anonymous product analytics. No personally identifiable information is sent to PostHog. See PostHog's Privacy Policy.
- Apple Sign In / Google Sign In — Used for authentication. We receive only your email and display name from these providers.
05 — Data storage and security
Your account data and transcripts are stored in Supabase on servers located in the European Union. We use Row Level Security to ensure that users can only access their own data.
Conversation transcripts stored locally on your device are protected by your device's own security mechanisms.
All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted using TLS. API keys are stored server-side and are never exposed to the client application.
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is deleted from our systems within 30 days.
06 — Your rights
Depending on where you are located, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate data.
- Deletion: Request that we delete your account and all associated data. You can do this directly in the app under Settings → Account → Delete Account, or by emailing us.
- Portability: Request an export of your conversation transcripts in a machine-readable format.
- Objection: Object to how we process your data in certain circumstances.

07 — Children's privacy
Lingoo is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
08 — Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Lingoo after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
